Get ready for a spectacular sight! The Casino du Lac-Leamy fireworks show is happening this weekend in Ottawa-Gatineau but it's shrouded in secrecy. Exactly where the fireworks will light up the sky from won't be revealed.

While many things have been cancelled or postponed because of the pandemic, Casino du Lac-Leamy is going ahead with its annual summer tradition but there's a twist this year.

It's usually a five-weekend light show but everything has been combined into one big show on the evening of August 15.

If you're in Ottawa-Gatineau you'll be able to see the amazing fireworks display from your backyard, driveway, balcony or wherever else you can safely view the show.

The casino posted on Facebook about the top-secret event with all the details you need to know about what's going on this year.

There are eight official sites from east to west in Gatineau where the fireworks will launch into the sky from.

However, the exact locations of where that will happen are being kept under lock and key and won't be revealed.

The casino said that's because of health and safety measures put in place by the government of Quebec. Not keeping it top-secret could jeopardize the entire event.

Maps were created by the casino that shows where you can see this light display so that you can better position yourself.

The goal was to have all five areas of the city take part in the spectacle and have the fireworks be visible to as many people as possible.

To select the eight launch sites, almost 30 spots had to be evaluated and they all had to meet several different criteria to be in the running so they couldn't have one in every single neighbourhood.

To help everyone find a good spot to watch the show, there will be three practice fireworks launched from the eight sites between 8:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

So if you don't have a good view during the practice ones you can go somewhere else to safely catch the main event.

This isn't the first time summer spectaculars of the sky have been put off in Ottawa.

Official in-person Canada Day celebrations in the country's capital were cancelled and they were held virtually.

There was a montage of the best July 1 fireworks displays from previous years instead of a live show.
